Meet The 8 new donkey rescues!

The final 8 donkeys from our most ambitious rescue to date have arrived safely from a kill pen in Bowie, Texas. They join Wookie, their brave protector, Fiona, who needed immediate medical care, and Jenny, who came to us early on July 1st. The entire herd is now together at Rancho Burro, their long, uncertain journey finally over.

This was already our largest rescue undertaking, but the stakes have just been raised. In addition to Jenny, who we know is seven months pregnant, we now suspect that two more of the rescued jennies may also be carrying foals. Our rescue of eleven could soon become a rescue of fourteen.

Among the new arrivals are a tall, handsome chocolate male we’ve already named Moose, a pair of beautiful bonded white jennies, a petite darling who reminds us so much of our Pepe, and a gorgeous male with long ear feathers. Each one is a miracle who has survived an ordeal we can only imagine.

This life-saving mission was only possible through a vital partnership with All Seated in a Barn, who first pulled them from danger, and Return to Freedom. A special thank you to their ranch manager, Jimmy, for personally ensuring the herd's safe transport to their forever home.

Now, their journey to a life of dignity and peace begins, and we cannot do it alone. The reality is, the cost of providing immediate and long-term care for eleven donkeys—and potentially three precious babies—is immense. We urgently need our community's help to fund the veterinary exams, hoof care, and specialized nutrition they all desperately need.

Please consider making a donation to help us meet this incredible challenge. Volunteering your time or scheduling a private educational tour are other powerful ways to support our mission. Every act of support helps us heal the broken and care for the vulnerable. Please visit the link in our bio for all the ways you can help.
