The New Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary

The new Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary and Barn is a newly established facility located in San Luis Obispo, CA, with the sole purpose of creating a more favorable environment for our donkeys that have been rescued from abuse and neglect.

Spanning across an expansive 45 acres of land, the sanctuary offers extensive pasture space along with various enrichment activities, ensuring the donkeys' health and well-being.

The new barn at the sanctuary will provide essential amenities, including a medical treatment room, wash stall, feed room, classroom, and dedicated stalls specifically designed for quarantining and rehabilitating newly rescued and sick donkeys.

Additionally, the sanctuary seeks to initiate an Animal Assisted Activities Program, catering to disabled individuals and veterans, providing them with the benefits of interacting with donkeys. Furthermore, the sanctuary aims to educate and advocate for donkey welfare.

To contribute positively in multiple ways, the sanctuary also endeavors to promote environmental conservation through a Monarch and Bee Pollinator Habitat Program.

The goal of the sanctuary is to highlight donkey care while actively engaging in activities that positively impact our community and the environment.
