Meet norton - Rescued in July 2020

Meet Norton, the charming 9-year-old male donkey who has quite the story to tell. Norton's journey began when he found himself isolated in a boarding facility after being rounded up and sold by the BLM to someone who eventually abandoned him. Despite his challenging past, Norton is an absolute sweetheart.
Thankfully, a caring veterinarian tipped us off about Norton's situation, and we were given permission to rescue him. Upon arriving at Rancho Burro, Norton received the much-needed care he deserved. His long hooves were expertly trimmed, he underwent a thorough check-up, and he was settled into his own cozy stall.
At our sanctuary, our donkeys are fed in their stalls to ensure a peaceful environment, but they spend most of their time freely roaming with the rest of the herd. Norton effortlessly integrated with his donkey companions and quickly became the embodiment of playfulness. In fact, he is the ringleader when it comes to encouraging playful games like tug of war with an assortment of toys.
Norton's journey from loneliness to joy is a testament to the transformative power of love and compassion. He is a delightful addition to our donkey family, showcasing every day the playful spirit that can thrive even in the face of adversity.
