Meet Polly, was a remarkable 27-year-old donkey who recently found a new home with us alongside her loyal companion, Teddy. Their previous owner had sadly passed away, leaving these two gentle souls without anyone to care for them. Despite facing several obstacles, Polly's indomitable spirit continues to thrive.
Upon Polly's arrival, we wasted no time in seeking professional assistance for her unique needs. I reached out to Dr. David Jensen, a renowned veterinarian specializing in ophthalmology, to examine her eyes. The results revealed that Polly is completely blind in her left eye, with partial vision in her right. Nevertheless, this hasn't deterred her remarkable ability to navigate her surroundings.
In addition to her visual impairment, Polly arrived with severely overgrown hooves, having gone untrimmed for nearly two years. Our dedicated team is currently working on nurturing her hooves back to health, as they were grossly deformed and in need of careful attention.
Despite her challenges, Polly remained an incredibly affectionate and endearing donkey. Her charming personality and snuggly nature have quickly captured the hearts of all who come to visit. Polly's resilience serves as a powerful reminder that love and compassion can truly overcome any obstacle.
We sadly said goodbye to Sweet Polly on November 6, 2024 when her severe hoof issues from her previous life of neglect rendered her crippled.
She was honestly the kindest donkey that ever lived.
Rest in Sweet Peace Polly Girl!
