Become A Volunteer

Our sanctuary relies on passionate and dedicated individuals to keep the barn running and the herd happy. Whether you have years of equine experience or just want to support our mission behind the scenes, we have a vital role for you on our team.

  • Step 1: Fill out the application form below.
  • Step 2: Phone interview.
  • Step 3: In-person interview (or group interview for support roles).
  • Step 4: Be on a 2-week training and trial period.
  • Step 5: Officially become our volunteer!

Skilled Care Techs

Do you have hands-on experience with horses or donkeys? Join our team and help provide direct care to our rescued residents.

  • Commit to at least 2 shifts every week for 3 months (4-5 hours/shift).
  • Love working outside, rain or shine.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Events & Support Roles

We also need volunteers to help with events, tours, workshops, the gift shop, and guest services. This is a great supportive role!

  • Exclusively for tasks that do not involve direct contact with the donkeys.
  • Great way to get involved and support Rancho Burro.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
