Meet Norton
The Jealous Romantic
Introduction
Norton is a charming 10-year-old male donkey with an absolute sweetheart of a personality.
Unfortunately, his journey began with deep isolation. He was originally rounded up and sold by the Bureau of Land Management, only to be eventually abandoned and left entirely alone in a boarding facility.
Thankfully, a caring veterinarian tipped off the sanctuary, and Rancho Burro was able to swoop in. Upon his arrival, Norton finally received the expert hoof trimming and thorough medical check-up he desperately needed before settling into his own cozy stall.
The Toy Collector
Moving from profound loneliness to pure joy, Norton effortlessly integrated into the herd and quickly proved he is the life of the party.
He is the sanctuary’s resident ringleader for playful games, often convincing the other donkeys to join him in a rousing game of tug-of-war with his assortment of toys.
Because Rancho Burro feeds the donkeys in their stalls to ensure a peaceful environment, Norton enjoys quiet meals but spends the rest of his day freely roaming the pasture, showcasing a joyful spirit that has completely triumphed over his past adversity.
Barnyard Drama
Underneath his fun-loving exterior beats the heart of a true, hopeless romantic with a slightly dramatic streak!
Norton has a massive, very obvious crush on both Tutti and her bossy daughter, Bella, proudly considering himself the lucky admirer of both ladies.
He also loves human attention so much that when his herd-mate, Romeo, required months of medical care inside a stall, Norton turned into a “green-eyed monster.” He would stand outside Romeo’s stall and pout, acting hilariously jealous of the extra care. Luckily, the boys have since learned to share the spotlight and now happily coexist, often playing rough out in the field.
