Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary is a peaceful home for rescued donkeys—many of whom have overcome their own physical or emotional challenges. We offer a welcoming, gentle environment where visitors of all abilities can connect with our animals and experience the healing power of kindness.

Schedule Options

2-Hour Visit (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

Donkey Interaction: Meet and spend quality time with our resident donkeys.
Activity: Enjoy a relaxing, low-stress sanctuary activity.
Lunch: Eat together in the barn (BYO lunch/snack).

1-Hour Visit (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

Lunch: Eat together in the barn (BYO lunch/snack).

Important Note: To keep everyone safe, every attendee—including participants, parents, legal guardians, authorized representatives, and staff—must sign an individual waiver before the visit. We can’t wait to welcome you!

Guided Supervision & Boundaries

Stay with your guide: A Rancho Burro team member will accompany your group throughout the entire visit. No wandering off independently.
Respect gates and enclosures: Do not open any gates or enter animal enclosures unless explicitly instructed by a team member.

Donkey Interaction & Safety

Let donkeys approach you: Do not grab, reach for, or chase the donkeys to get their attention. Let them come to you on their own terms.
Protect their ears: Never grab or touch a donkey’s ears; they are extremely sensitive.
Stay aware: Donkeys use their mouths to scratch and explore. Stay attentive to your surroundings to avoid accidental bites or nibbles.
No food or feeding: Do not carry any food or strong-smelling items on your person. Do not feed the donkeys under any circumstances.

Calm Environment

Move slowly: No running. Donkeys respond best to calm, slow, and gentle movements.
Keep noise levels low: No yelling or loud voices. Donkeys have sensitive hearing.
Silence cell phones: Keep phones on silent and refrain from answering calls during the tour.

Attire & Clothing

Closed-toe shoes required: You must wear closed-toe shoes to participate.
Dress for the weather: Bring a hat, jacket, or weather-appropriate clothing.
Avoid loose items: Secure loose clothing, jewelry, or dangling items, as curious donkeys may grab or nibble on them.

Service Animals & Pets

No pets allowed: Pets are strictly prohibited for animal safety.
Service animals: While service animals are welcome on the property, they are restricted from direct donkey contact areas for safety. We recommend leaving service animals at home if possible.

Photos & Questions

Capture memories: You are welcome to take photos and videos throughout your visit.
Ask questions: We love sharing our passion—feel free to ask questions about our sanctuary and resident donkeys!

Liability Release and Indemnity Agreement: I, the undersigned, understand that interacting with equines involves inherent risks of injury. I hereby voluntarily release, waive, and discharge Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary, its officers, directors, principals, agents, volunteers, and property owners from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action for bodily injury, property damage, or wrongful death, including those caused by the negligence of the sanctuary or its staff. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any costs or liabilities resulting from my (or my minor’s) presence on the property. By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read this document in its entirety and understand I am giving up substantial legal rights.

-I understand that donkeys are unpredictable animals and may kick, bite, or move suddenly. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with being in the presence of equine animals.

-I give Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary permission to use any photos or videos to be used in our social media & marketing.

-I assume all responsibility for any minors listed on this form.
