• Harry

❣️ Our inspiration and advocacy began with an encounter with a lonely donkey named Harry, who was cast out into a field on the side of Highway 101 near Avila Beach, Ca.

•He belonged to the property owner, but the owner was not living there.

They were treating him as their lawnmower.

•Although his health was rapidly declining, Harry was still a sweet and gentle being.

•He ultimately died due to neglect as it is a gross misconception of many that domesticated donkeys are OK when left to their own devices.

**Unfortunately, we were NOT able to rescue Harry from his sad fate, but we honor him in the work we do at Rancho Burro Donkey Sanctuary.

We are eager to finish the new 46-acre sanctuary project in San Luis Obispo, Ca.

This new property will allow us to rescue many more donkeys in need and provide a loving forever home to all.**
